The Honorable Mary N. Piepho was elected to the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors in November, 2004. As a County Supervisor, Ms. Piepho represents Contra Costa County's Third Supervisorial District, which covers the communities of Walnut Creek, Alamo, Danville, San Ramon, Discovery Bay, Diablo, Brentwood, Byron, Knightsen, Blackhawk and Tassajara Valley. 

Supervisor Piepho understands the varied and complex needs of the county's residents. She currently is the Chair of the Board of Supervisor's Transportation, Water and Infrastructure Committee, as well as a member of the Finance Committee, State Route 4 Bypass Authority and several other committees. As a member of these important committees, Supervisor Piepho works aggressively to create sound public policy that serves the vital needs of Contra Costa County's residents while maintaining a fiscally conservative approach that protects the county's finances.

Supervisor Piepho has been actively involved in Contra Costa County for many years. Prior to her election as a County Supervisor, Mrs. Piepho was an elected member of the Byron Union School District and also served as an aide to both California State Assemblywoman Lynne Leach and California State Assemblyman Guy Houston. She has also served as President of the Los Medanos Community College District Foundation Board; President of the Contra Costa Community College District Measure A Bond Oversight Committee, and as a member of the Highway 4 Safety Task Force. She has also served on the Discovery Bay Chamber of Commerce, Discovery Bay Parent-Teacher Association and as a Contra Costa County Special District representative.

Supervisor Piepho's legislative goals are assertive and designed to address the genuine needs of Contra Costa County. As a County Supervisor, Mrs. Piepho has a wide array of policy goals that she works to implement. As Chair of the Transportation, Water and Infrastructure Committee, she is a strong proponent of aiding the county's infrastructure needs, such as  significantly improving transportation in Contra Costa County to more effectively serve and protect our citizens and protecting our natural resources. She also is a strong advocate of programs that will assist quality education in Contra Costa County and works to protect the county's tax dollars as a member of the Board's Finance Committee.

Supervisor Piepho promotes the effective accountability of county staff and also believes in a reformed county pension system that is fair and reasonable to both retiring county staff members and to the Contra Costa County taxpayers. She is a strong proponent of improving the efficiency and effectiveness of county government so that it effectively serves the needs of its citizens.

Supervisor Piepho lives in Discovery Bay with her husband, David, and daughter, Mariah.
